In brief

Following the closure of the local independent cinema in 2007, the idea of forming a film society was floated in April 2008.  Five volunteers responded.

Later that year, when Carn to Cove wanted to show films in Bude, we got together, dragged in a few more helpers and an initial season of five films started in October.

We called ourselves Bude Community Cinema - with the aim of 'Bringing films to Bude’.  These volunteers subsequently became founder members, adopted a constitution, elected a committee, and on 19 November 2008, Bude Community Cinema was formally established.

To continue and flourish, we need support - in terms of volunteers to run the organisation and as audience members.

We must have both - hence the strapline 'Run by the community for the community'.
