BCC’s Film selection policy

Availability of films is controlled by the Film Distributors - and film societies and community cinemas are not able to get films when they are on general release.  Sometimes new films aren’t available to us until they are for sale on DVD!

Our film selection policy is aimed at having a mixed programme, based on the following:-

• To select films that are currently available which we believe (based on previous experience) will be enjoyed by local audiences.  Where possible, choices will reflect suggestions received, plus feedback from other societies about well-received films, opinions of committee members, film reviews, etc.

• To deliberately leave gaps in the programme so that we can include new releases as soon as they are available - as we did with Mamma Mia! the Movie, Sherlock Holmes and Toy Story 3.

Please let us have your film suggestions - whatever they are.  Use this link to send us an e-mail.

Unless stated, films are shown at The Parkhouse Centre, Ergue-Gaberic Way, Bude EX23 8LD

Doors open (with wine/beer, tea/coffee, etc available) 6.30 pm
Screening starts 7.30 pm (unless otherwise stated)

Sponsor a film night.

Could you help your community cinema’s fund-raising by sponsoring a film night?

It costs just £60 to have your name on Posters, Flyers, and this web site, plus some complimentary tickets.  A great way for businesses to extend a bit of hospitality and it’s cheaper than an advert in the local!

Please e-mail if interested.

POSTER  |  FLYER

War Horse started as a children’s novel by Michael Morpurgo, published in 1982 and became a highly acclaimed stage play in 2007. Now it’s a Steven Spielberg film.

The story starts in Devon and the beginning of the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and Albert Narracott., who tames and trains him. When, at the beginning of the First World War they are forced to part, the film follows Joey’s journey throughout the war, and the impact he has on those he meets – British Cavalry, German soldiers and local French farmers.

A skilful blend of wartime adventure, courage, friendship, joys and sorrows.
